that's what the scale said last night.
i'm all talk, little action as of late. every week i say to myself "next week, i'm gonna hit the bike hard, i'm gonna stop eating crap..."
i'm convinced that i can't eat like normal people. if i eat like normal people i put on weight. or maybe i binge in the middle. i dunno. normal people are overweight.
this is a very bloggy blog post.

perhaps
the updates to this are fewer and farther between because i'm busy with stuff like hbg and taco rides and drinking and while that's all fun and exciting, it's documented elsewhere.
in any case, i use my link lists on the right quite a bit, so getting rid of the page doesn't make sense.
so i'm sorry if it's of no use to you.
news you may have missed:
i did initial can design for sun king brewery's newest offering, Cream Dream (or Creme Dream, I forget)
i'm designing posters and tickets for the indiana microbrewers festival (quite a bit of exposure there)
work bought me a blackberry
work gave me a substantial pay bump
i decided to spend the summer eating and biking here and there and taking it easy
every week is filled with too much to do
many mornings i make my way to work and think "i have so much to be thankful for"
i have almost as many twitter followers as there are citizens of trenton, IL (that's pretty odd)
fulham is in the europa final (i hesitate to mention it because i haven't yet and i'm very superstitious)
here are some pictures of posters yet to be finished:

I'm listening to LCD Soundsystem, Nirvana Live at Reading, and... whatever. Charlotte Gainsbourg, I guess.
I recently negotiated to help open a restaurant in st. louis, but the conversation took place of cell phone, and i was drinking.
so that one's not exactly likely.

you might be tempted to think that i've finally jumped ship, that this blog is on it's way out, but you would be wrong, you see, because i'm not going anywhere, ever, just trapped here writing a paragraph now and again, like a dog on a chain, wandering around free until suddenly there's a tight snap at my neck, that's what this is, this blog, it's a neck ache.
none of that is true. a third of it. 7%.

three day weekend?
Google Map of Approximate Route
Bourbon Bikes Kentucky Yay.
Bourbon Bikes Kentucky Yay.
KENTUCKY SPIRITSBottom of page.
Grab your road bike and head for the heartland, where the two things that make Kentucky great—bourbon and horses—are within weekend spinning distance of Lexington. After an inspirational stop at the Kentucky Horse Park (kyhorsepark.com), where more than 50 breeds graze near Man o' War's gravesite, it's 17 miles west to the historic Woodford Reserve Distillery (woodfordreserve.com), along Glen Creek. Sample a snort of small-batch bourbon and keep rolling past white-fenced thoroughbred farms to the Wild Turkey Distillery (wildturkeybourbon.com), in continuous operation since the late 1860s except for a blip during Prohibition. The oyster po'boys and Bridge Street Bourbon Balls at Rick's White Light Diner & Barbecue (502-330-4262), a vintage hideaway in downtown Frankfort, are worth pulling in for. After a night at the Meeting House (doubles from $100; themeetinghousebandb.com), an 1840s bed-and-breakfast, point your wheels north toward Franklin County and the Buffalo Trace Distillery (buffalotrace.com), whose 15-year-old George T. Stagg bourbon took home the gold in the 2006 San Francisco World Spirits Competition. From there, it's a straight shot back to Lexington, where you can recover (from the riding!) among mahogany furnish-ings and regional artwork at the Gratz Park Inn (doubles from $169; gratzpark-inn.com).
Route: Start the 88-mile loop at Lexington and ride north on Highway 922, west on 1973, then right on Iron Works Parkway. Head back to Lexington and go west on Highway 60/62 to Lawrenceburg. Take McCracken Pike, then Steele Road, then Highway 127 north to Frankfort. To return to Lexington, take Highway 421 via Midway.

pushups what pushups
part of the problem with a regular diet of craft beer events is that often times you'll arrive at home at 11:30 pm and think "fuck i gotta do pushups?" and then you won't
back on the pushup wagon next week, though.
rode to work today. that was ok.
OH
last week (on a pushup night) i was headed back home and hit a really nice pothole, the kind that immediately flats both driver's side tires.
$402 later i have a new set of rear tires (after rotation)
didn't really have that money to throw out the window. i did have it in savings for bike parts.
boo.

day 2
started the pushup thing monday. i get winded way fast. i hate doing it. that's why i quit the last time, i suddenly remembered between sets.
tonight i'll do workout 2 or day 2 or whatever they call it.
this is so much worse than any sort of cardio.

i suppose if i'm writing this thing to aid my memory then i should note that last weekend, kotbr llc (parent company of hbg) did our first paying gig - winterfest 2010. 2700 people, ag/hort building on the fairgrounds, outdoor beer garden, happy customers, a long bathroom line.
no complaints aside from the bathroom thing, but even those complaints were pretty minor. i'd call it a success.
in other news, i've been extremely lazy and lethargic the last two or so weeks, and i rode my bike to work this morning (23ish degrees) and it nearly killed me. i really hope i was riding into the wind. but i doubt i was.
been thinking about taking up the small bit of running i did again. but i've also been thinking that every night when i get home from work i should go directly to bed. maybe i've got mono.
is that how mono works? maybe i've got malaria.
i know that come warmer weather i'll be fitter and slimmer and vibrant and slippery but right now i'm a la-z-boy chair sitting upside down in the corner - lumpy and useless.

love letter to mark
Dear Mark,
Sometimes late at night I lie in bed and think about what could have been. And I never think of you. I guess that means we're not meant for each other.
Regards,
Mike

this month and the month prior we've (the hbg folks) been putting together the brewers of indiana guild winterfest, lining up the breweries attending as well as the volunteers who will staff the event.
for this we will be paid.
we'll also be doing the summer event, same stuff.
and we'll be paid for that as well.
the end result is a budget that means that our larger drinking expenses are covered by money earned putting together our prior larger drinking expenses. kinda sorta.
we're under contract for a year.

Review 2009
I ended up seeing a ton of movies in 2009 - I think at some point I just decided it was the best way to waste time.
I think the only way to review something is based on enjoyment. And so, in order, here's my lists. The following are all movies released this year.
In the theater:
The Fantastic Mr. Fox
The trailer looked annoying and overly quirky. I'd pretty much given up on Wes Anderson, but a few enthusiastic online reviews convinced me to give it a shot. As it turns out it was my favorite movie of the year, and one I wanted to see more than once. Unfortunately it didn't last long in the theater. Too bad, really, as I think it was a movie suitable for pretty much anyone, and by far the most entertaining thing I saw all year.
Watchmen
I didn't know anything about this going in other than the fact that it was based on a comic book. I just thought it was really well done, and I was tempted to go see it twice.
Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince
I thought the dialog was clever (and sort of accurate as I remember conversations when I was that age). I've like all the Harry Potter movies, despite never reading any of the books. I thought the last 3 were particularly well done.
Up In The Air
Moon
Whip It
District 9
Where The Wild Things Are
Inglorius Basterds
Up
Zombieland
Star Trek
Objectified
The Hangover
Extract
Public Enemies
Ponyo
Beer Wars
Avatar
And on DVD:
Antichrist
Comically Disturbing. As fun as watching someone mutilate their genitals can be. CHAOS REIGNS
Tyson
Tokyo!
Food, Inc.
Anvil! The Story of Anvil
Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen
Taken
Observe and Report
GI Joe: The Rise of Cobra
This was like watching someone else play a really bad video game.
Bruno
Holy cow was Bruno bad.
