HEY MARK GET ME A JOB

i know you're making more money than me. what if i was totally serious what would you say.

anyway, i'm going to go back to school, for something that makes a lot of money. i don't mind staying in computers. i just need to be absolutely sure i make at least 75 grand a year. i'm not anywhere near that now. i make 11. dollars.

so any suggestions? i'm really smart. i think. i just never really tried before.

I'm sure I make less than you, but you can always check http://www.savvis.net/corp/Careers/ for what we have open. Savvis doesn't have an office or datacenter in Indiana, but there are some openings in London and Singapore.

Oh, if there are any openings for our firewall team, you can just work from home.....but there's not I just checked.

i make 11.

i make 40ish. i'd have to check. maybe 42? 45? not more that 45.

what's your title? looks like i'm qualified to be a VP with Savvis. You'll be working for me next week, so shape up or ship out.

I'm an Incident Response Specialist. AKA, tier 2 customer facing technical support. I just moved up from tier 1. It's pretty cool because now I have server access and get to learn more about UNIX and Windows system administration.
I make between 40 and 42 before overtime.

One word: Plastics.

not Java Developer? surely Java Developer pays more that 40 though... not that that'd be worth a return to school for..

anyone know anything about sql? it's not too far from what i do now, i'd imagine.

Starting Java probably pays more than 40. Once you get into mid-to-senior level Java pays pretty well. But there's a huge leap between junior and mid level java developers--one that most fail to make.

SQL by itself isn't a profession. But if you want to make some good coin down the road become a Oracle DBA. It's actually more like a System Administrator. You'll need lots of UNIX knowledge and It's kina hard to get into but a seasoned Oracle DBA easily can surpass six digit salaries.

You have to get certified and unlike many Microsoft certifications, Oracle tests are *hard*, but the reward is there.

My project is adding a person in October, but the job would be at Scott and possibly in DC in a year or two. I couldn't find the listing on Harris' web site, so I can't direct you to that. You could do the job easy (HTML, PHP, MySQL, Apache). It wouldn't be $75K unless I'm way underpaid.

DBA is a 6-figure field. Go for it.

you can't make it on 40? I thought you were more frugal than that. Is Indy that expensive? I think you just want more money for more bike stuff.

i need money for blow.

no, i make plenty of money. but if you're going to work anyway..

never tried before? tried what exactly?

Mike said...

never made much effort at anything really. i mean, i slept in my car in a parking lot through about half my college classes.

and really that doesn't bother me. which should bother me? I dunno. I'm pretty apathetic.

Mike said...

AND IT SORT OF ROCKS.

sleeping in your car thru classes is almost always retarded; no two ways about it. i did the equivalent my first 2 years but then tightened that shit up. much love, though.

it sounds like you want to make more money, but not really that seriously. i'm sure you if you get less apathetic you'll start earning

Mike said...

yeah i'm more bored than anything.

you have any good ideas for a start-up project? besides the keyboard necktie?

Mike said...

All my ideas revolve around beer.
